Crystallized EP Meanings & Lyrics

Hey, everyone! Let's talk music.

Hopefully, most of you have given our new Crystallized EP a listen while it's streaming for free on our site (it will be available for purchase everywhere on July 1st)! I've received several requests for lyrics for the tracks, and I'm more than happy to oblige. However, I want you to also know my reasoning behind the lyrics so that you can fully experience the tracks from an emotional standpoint.

About Damn Time

Honestly, this song was about the resistance we received from family when we announced we were engaged. There was a lot of drama/concern surrounding our spiritual differences and views, leading to them questioning our intentions. I tried so hard to make everyone happy, and my entire engagement was one of the most miserable experiences of my life. Can you have post-wedding PTSD? It's taken me a long time to realize I'm cool with not being the popular vote because I stand by what I believe, and I'll never back down. Mainly, this song is about the shit-talkers and nay-sayers in life, and how you don't need to care what they think.

I heard they were talking about me, I heard that you heard what they said | Said that she is overrated, she ain't got a thought in her head and they go on | They go on | Well, it's about damn time, it's about damn time | I've been waiting all my life just to get it right | I heard you were sitting pretty, smiling to yourself as they chimed she ain't got herself a worry, no, she ain't got herself a dime | and they go on, they go on, well they go on | I guess they're wrong | Well, it's about damn time, it's about damn time | I've been waiting all my life just to get it right | Whisper words you think I said | Whisper words until you think I'm dead | You don't need me, you don't need me, you don't need me anymore, no more | Well, it's about damn time, it's about damn time | I've been waiting all my life just to get it right | Well, it's about damn time, it's about damn time | I've been waiting all my life just to get it right | Time, it's about damn time | I've been waiting all my life to get it right |

Stories

This song was created during a dark time of loss for my friends and family. I wrote it from the perspective of a widow who abruptly lost her spouse. Some people interpret it to be about their relationship with God, and that's totally understandable as well -- it's more along the lines of asking yourself where we all end up after our physical life is over. Any lost love can be felt through these lyrics, and I struggled to even record them due to how emotional they were to me.

What they don't tell you is that it still hurts, drifting away from a life you still deserve. How could I know it would be the last time? | A soft hello, and a cold goodbye? | Stories we all knew, where ya gonna go when it's over? | Stories we all knew, where ya gonna go? | Where ya gonna go? | Finally finding myself in this crazy mess, holding my head high as I pass this test. | I can still feel your touch on my softest skin, the warmth from your lips and the words within. | Stories we all knew, where ya gonna go when it's over? | Stories we all knew, where ya gonna go? | Where ya gonna go? | Oooooooh-oh-oh | Oooooooh-oh-oh-oh | Your love is all I need, it's just like the evergreen, lasts eternity| Whoa, you're love is all I need, it's just like the evergreen, lasts eternity. | Stories we all knew, where ya gonna go when it's over? | Stories we all knew, where ya gonna go? | Where ya gonna go? | Where you gonna go? Where you gonna go-whoa? | Your love is all I need, it's just like the evergreen.

Crystallized

This song is about being brainwashed by someone who sucks. You know, when you think you're in love with them, but you're mainly just obsessed with the idea of them? Toxic relationships, and being blind to all of the obvious signs you should high-tail it in the other direction.

Hold me tightly in your grasp, we are never looking back | If you want me let me know, if you love me let me go | I've seen it all so many times, you got my heart paralyzed | Where can I turn, I've nothing to learn, I've no one to love | You got my eyes crystallized, I got nothin' to see here but my love it still bleeds clear | Can't escape what's inside dear-oh | Tell my mother not to cry, I promised not to say goodbye | Moving on was just the start, especially if you played your part | I've heard it all so many times, we gotta learn how to stop these crimes | How does it feel? | I've nothing to steal, I've nowhere to turn | You got my eyes crystallized, I got nothin' to see here but my love it still bleeds clear | Can't escape what's inside dear-oh | You've got everything I want, you've got everything I want | You've got everything I need | You've got everything I want, you've got everything I need | You got my eyes crystallized, I got nothin' to see here but my love it still bleeds clear | Can't escape what's inside dear-oh | Oh-oooo, yeah, got me crystallized |

Lover's Fear

This song is kind of out of the same mindset as Crystallized -- being in toxic relationships. I think everyone can relate to this (sadly) at one point or another in their lives. Being cheated on sucks, being in denial is even worse. Knowing that you'll be okay and that you'll survive the hurt is the key.

The nights we spent apart were the nights you broke my heart. | Another whisper to another ear, a lover, you kissed her? A lover's fear | Forgive me, my uncertainty should be masked with complacency. | I don't know how the end of this story goes, all I know is I'll be fine on my own | That patch of skin around your neck is growing red, a flush of truth to tell me you were in her bed. |
